ABOUT THE WBG AFRICA FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The program is designed for young, gifted African citizens who are finishing or have recently finished their doctoral studies in a field related to the work of the World Bank. Since its launch, the fellowship program has been incredibly effective in developing a pool of young African talent interested in careers in academia, think tanks, international organizations, and development.
In order to provide chosen fellows with practical experience in WBG operations, the program provides them a six-month assignment at country offices or WBG offices in Washington, D.C. This includes creating and disseminating knowledge, creating national and international policies, and establishing institutions to promote inclusive growth in developing nations. In addition to working on research, economic policy, technical assistance, and loan operations that support the World Bank’s mission of eradicating poverty and promoting shared prosperity, fellows will gain from research and innovation in a variety of fields.
