In order to improve skill development, acquire specialized hands on training in new technologies, and increase cooperation in science and technology, the ICGEB SMART fellowship program encourages researches to move between ICGEB members states.
The program provides unambiguous evidence of strong collaboration between the two laboratories.

This movement should provide unambiguous evidence of strong collaboration between the 2 laboratories. The influence on the fellow’s career, the advantage to the applicant’s home laboratory, and the appropriateness of the receiving laboratory should be the main points of emphasis for applicants.

Applications are welcome in any area of the Life sciences.
To be eligible
The call is accessible to citizens of ICGEB member states and offers scholarships to early-career scientists who would like to spend three to nine months working at a research institution in a different ICGEB member state. SMART The goal of fellowships is to encourage cooperation between scholars in ICGEB member nations. Only in extreme cases, and only if the intended research activity is not covered by one of the ICGEB laboratories in Trieste, New Delhi, or Cape Town, will mobility support to laboratories in Italy, India, or South Africa be considered. If the latter is the case, please refer to the short-term fellowship program offered by ICGEB Arturo Falaschi. Age restrictions do not apply. But first, young scientists are given favor.
Conditions and Advantages
The duration of awards ranges from three months to nine months. The fellowship pays for the fellow’s sole subsistence as well as return international economy airfare and health insurance. The monthly compensation varies between US$ 800 and US$ 1,500 based on the applicant’s rank and the local conditions in the country of destination. Additionally, upon the recommendation of the ICGEB Fellowships Committee, a US$ 500 monthly bench fee may be given directly to the receiving laboratory.The fellowship payment will be transferred straight to the fellow’s bank account via bank transfer. ICGEB will assign the receiving laboratory, which will be in charge of handling the money and certifying expenses to ICGEB, the bench fee allocation upon the receiving laboratory’s membership

Complete report
The selected candidate will collaborate with the host supervisor to draft a final scientific report that highlights the accomplishments made possible by the fellowship.A signed financial statement detailing the expenses covered by the bench fee allocation will be submitted by the host Institute.
