INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT:Pharmacoepidemiology scholars for the Pharmacoepidemiology NIH/Fogarty K43 Project
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill in the positions of Pharmacoepidemiology scholars for the Pharmacoepidemiology NIH/Fogarty K43 Project.
The Pharmacoepidemiology NIH/Fogarty K43 Project is a capacity development grant funded by the Fogarty International Centers (FIC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The supplement is to mentor two Pharmacy graduates’ students in Pharmacoepidemiology research, focused on women with HIV. The goal of the research is to understand the relationship between low level viremia (LLV) and pregnancy on antiretroviral therapy (ART) outcomes in West Africa.
Specific Objectives Are
Using the International Epidemiology Database to analyze AIDS (IeDEA, West Africa), determine the prevalence and predictors of LLV among pregnant women with HIV in West Africa. to use the Exposed Infant Database and NIMR PMTCT to evaluate the relationship between maternal LLV and infant HIV status at ≤18 months.
Pharmacoepidemiology Scholar
A grant application must be submitted by the prospective pharmacoepidemiology scholar; it will be evaluated, and the traineeship will be given to the application with the highest score.
Eligibility Requirements
- Currently be registered for MSc in Public Health (MPH) at Universities within Lagos and environs
- A post NYSC graduate of Pharmacy
- Sign mentorship agreement with the Principal Investigator of the Institute Pharmacoepidemiology (K43) Project
- Be interested in HIV research focused on women
- Submit a personal statement
- Submit a curriculum Vitae/Bio sketch (NIH Format)
- Submit Synopsis of MPH or MSc research proposal (Approved by the Institution which includes at least one of the Pharmacoepidemiology (K43) Project objectives
- Submit a capacity development plan
- Submit evidence of enrollment at eligibility Institution and
- Provide a letter of support from current Head of Department at the School
The grant will be given out based on a competitive, peer-reviewed process and has the potential to support post-program women’s health research.A laptop computer and up to one million naira (₦1,000,000) in tuition price reimbursement will be given to the chosen individuals.
