Programme offering
Through the Afreximbank Research Sabbatical Program, members of academic or research institutions can conduct pertinent research that advances the Bank’s mission by serving as an intellectual leader.
Eligibility
Position: Mostly available to senior academics and lecturers from reputable universities, research centers, or related organizations. Admission to the program is strictly on the basis of merit, and it is very difficult.
Thematic areas: Professionals interested in conducting research in the areas of trade finance leadership, financial sustainability, industrialization and export development in Africa, intra-African trade and the implementation of the AfCFTA, and/or any other areas pertinent to the Bank’s mandate are sought after by the Bank.
Nationality: applications are open to nationals of African countries and Caribbean Community countries.
Language: Proficient in both written and oral English communication. Proficiency in French, Arabic, or Portuguese, the three official languages of the Bank, will be an added advantage.
Timeframe: Prepared to dedicate yourself to the Bank for a single (1) calendar year that is non-renewable.
Method of Application: Interested applicants should complete an online application form on the Bank’s website and submit it electronically along with:
1. Current CV and cover letter
2. A defined plan of research activities with specific research outcomes, deliverables and timelines as well as supporting material that underpin the likelihood of achieving those outcomes and deliverables. 3.Recommendation letter from present employer, confirming that the candidate’s job will still be available at the end of the sabbatical.
4. Copy of valid passport.
5. Certified copies of relevant academic certificates.
6.Short statement of intent (maximum of one A4 page) indicating why they should be considered for the programme.
