Description: The Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) is pleased to announce the 2016 essay competition on the topic “Diagnosis and Prognosis of the Nigerian recession”. This competition is opened to anyone with high interest and knowledge about the nation economy.
OBJECTIVE: The main aim of the competition is to encourage fact-based analysis as a quota of the centre’s effort in contributing to the generation of a knowledge-based society.
Criteria for participation:
- Interested persons are meant to compose an essay of not more than 5000 words stating clearly and very concisely the source and causes of the present-day recession; presenting any possible ways out of it including suggestion about the role of individuals, organizations and Government in curbing the country recession.
- You are also required to compose a synopsis of the essay of not more than 1000 words.
- Your essay should be well-directed and backed up by facts and figures
- Submission should be done with a cover note containing a brief biography of yourself.

2nd position: #250,000
3rd position: #150,000
4th and 5th runner-up: #50,000
The panel of judges will include the likes of CIAPS centre director, Anthony Kila; Political economist, Pat Utomi; former world bank vice president Oby Ezekwesili; public affairs analyst- Henry Boyo and former executive secretary Nigerian University Commission (NUC)- Munzali Jubril.
